Dragkroka
Dragkroka is a folk music trio that fervently uncovers music from all the Nordic countries - with the heavy bass groove of the cittern, a fiddle that continuously tests the limits of harmonic possibilities and, an anchored, energetic and stomping melody delivered from the Swedish nyckelharpa - Dragkroka plays traditional Scandinavian music, as well as new compositions with inspiration from these styles.
Henry went on a grand adventure to the Nordics in 2022, leaving Wellington to chase his passion for Nordic folk music. He met Rasmus and Alfred in Sweden while they studied folk music together at Skurups Folkhögskola, and Dragkroka was formed through jamming and the sharing of music. Since then Rasmus and Alfred have gone on to study folk music at the Royal Academy in Stockholm, while Henry has travelled all around the Nordics while studying the Nordic Master in Folk Music.
Now they bring all their knowledge together to arrange traditional melodies from all the Nordic countries, with a focus on danceability and the fusion possibilities with other genres. They also compose their own melodies that are grounded in these traditional styles. Dragkroka consists of Rasmus Hemström (SE) - nyckelharpa, Alfred Bergkvist (SE) - cittern and Henry Burtonwood (NZ) - fiddle.
