Parrot in the Pocket

Parrot in the Pocket is a joyful folk duo from Aotearoa New Zealand making music that gets kids singing, laughing, and listening in close. Their songs have catchy melodies, and playful storytelling, inspired by birds, beaches, bush, and the surprises hiding in the world around us. Through music, Parrot in the Pocket invites children to explore nature with curious ears and wide eyes, turning everyday moments into shared adventures.

The duo has teamed up with the much loved Suzy Cato on Birdies in the Bush and Monsters in te Moana, folksy sing along songs celebrating native wildlife, bravery, and the thrill of discovery. With more music on the way, Parrot in the Pocket encourages families to listen carefully, imagine boldly, and wonder together. The duo is made up of Miriam McCombe and Thomas Hamill.

Miriam McCombe is a songwriter and musician whose bright folky melodies and playful lyrics are shaped by her love of singing, storytelling, and making music with others. Originally from the UK and now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, she brings warmth, humour, and a sense of fun to Parrot in the Pocket’s sound.

Thomas Hamill is a songwriter, performer, and music educator who loves creating story filled songs that help children feel curious and connected to the natural world. Inspired by the bush and beaches near his West Auckland home, his writing is full of imagination, gentle humour, and heart.
